Operational Excellence

Small- to medium-sized manufacturers in central and southeast Ohio are encouraged to conduct audits of their operations on a regular basis. This program allows experts to assess your operations, identify problem areas, provide alternative measures, and/or implement procedures to maximize operational efficiencies so you can focus on running a business.

GOALS OF THE PROGRAM

Our Operational Excellence program begins with defining a practical and achievable process flow that is understood and embraced by each employee. The elements of these Operational Excellence programs challenge each employee to consider value to the customer in all of their business practices. When value to the customer is not realized by any employee along the flow of operations, they know how to apply corrective measures to re-frame the value flow through the implementation of workforce development, Lean Six Sigma, Safety programs, and/or enterprise resource planning.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

A responsible employer hires and harvests their employees to contribute to a viable and resourceful work environment with little turnover. Our workforce development program trains members of both leadership and operations to have the right processes and behaviors for their specific job. Managers will be trained to use the most appropriate means of communication and style to drive improved work performance while employee engagement and retention will be realized through the continuous improvement programs tailored to your company.

LEAN SIX SIGMA

Manufacturing operations run more efficiently and provide more returns when waste and variations are eliminated. The lean Six Sigma programs offered through the College of Engineering, CDME, and Integrated Systems Engineering share the tools needed to streamline operations leading to improved efficiency, lead times, quality, and yields using proven DMAIC and DMADV principles.

SAFETY

The biggest responsibility of any employer is to make sure they provide a safe and healthy environment for their employees.

Our safety programs include:

  • auditing procedures
  • designing a program specific to your environment
  • providing hands-on training to all required employees to eliminate risk, injury, and illness
  • OSHA standards compliance
  • best practices training
  • equipment training and certification
  • first-aid trainingDo

ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING

Operational Excellence runs nearly flawlessly thanks to enterprise resource planning (ERP) and its integration management benefits. Whether your core business operations fall on the manual or fully-automated spectrum, we can help implement an ERP system or enhance one that is overloaded and burdensome. Our ERP services include everything from conducting audits and providing suggestions to entire ERP software integration that manages inventory and order management, accounting, HR, and CRM. The Operational Excellence services offered through the College of Engineering, CDME, and the Integrated Systems Engineering department lead to more time dedicated to growth-generating activities and less spent on rework.
