E3 Program Featured in National Network's New Report

The National Network featured our Experiential Entrepreneurship Education (E3) program in their most recent report, Apprenticeships for the Modern World.

Their report features nine different apprenticeship programs across the United States that incorporate concept-based learning and hands-on application in a real-world setting. "Our nation requires a 21st-century skilled workforce to lead in global innovation, ensure future economic growth and drive job creation. With the skills gap growing more acute and the need for diverse talent more critical, companies are leveraging creativity and innovation to rethink their workforce preparation efforts" (National Network, 2018).

The E3 program at Ohio State's Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence offers product design, manufacturing, commercialization, and business modeling with advanced on-site prototyping capabilities and real-time, industry-sponsored research and development projects. This includes a Student Innovation Lab with design, rapid prototyping and light manufacturing capabilities. This program is sustained, in part, by a revenue model which incorporates industry sponsorships, paid projects, grants, and donations.

The E3 program and the other apprenticeship programs featured in the report "[produce] results for individuals, companies, communities and the nation. Taken as a whole, these models point toward a new vision for redefining and retooling competency-based apprenticeships for the modern economy" (National Network, 2018).
