Partnership Opportunities and Institutional Collaboration

On Wednesday, June 15th, CDME’s executive director, John Bair, and associate director, Nate Ames, traveled to the James W. Kehoe Center for Advanced Learning at North Central State Community College (NCSCC) to discuss a collaboration between NCSCC, OSU Mansfield, and the CDME. The Kehoe Center houses a nationally recognized Integrated Systems Technology laboratory and the regional Advanced Manufacturing Tool & Die Center, as well as EnterpriseOhio Network’s Skillsmax Center. The center offers baccalaureate and graduate degree programs through NCSCC’s many university partners. The prestigious North Central Ohio Entrepreneurial Hall of Fame is also housed in this facility.

The possible implementations of the visit include an opportunity to partner on workforce development and the creation of new two and four year manufacturing degree programs. CDME met with Dean Gregory Timberlake of NCSCC, Assistant Dean Daniel Wagner, and Coordinator and Associate Professor of OSU Mansfield, Norman Jones. The CDME duo was also given a tour of the robotic training facility, machining and tooling center, PLC design and integration training facility, and the hydraulic and pneumatic training facility. Additionally, NCSCC revealed the creation of the Tuition Freedom Scholarship that will help students with a GPA of 2.5 or greater go to school for free. This will allow every qualifying College Credit Plus or Career Tech student, from a partner secondary school, to continue their education after graduating from high school. The CDME is looking forward to future collaborations with NCSCC to benefit our industrial membership.
